How to brew coffee in an AeroPress

The AeroPress is a very versatile, fast, and easy-to-adjust method. It produces a clean, sweet, and full-bodied cup, and works especially well for brewing a single serving.

Basic Recipe

Coffee: 15 g
Water: 220 ml
Temperature: 90–94 ºC
Grind: medium-fine
Total time: 2–2:30 minutes

Step-by-step

1. Prepare the filter
Place the paper filter in the cap and rinse it with hot water.

2. Add the coffee
Put 15 g of medium-fine ground coffee into the AeroPress.

3. Add the water
Pour 220 ml of water, making sure to wet all the coffee.

4. Stir
Stir gently for a few seconds.

5. Let it steep
Wait about 1:30 minutes.

6. Press
Insert the plunger and press slowly for about 20–30 seconds.

7. Serve and enjoy

Want to adjust it to your taste?

Too acidic or weak → try a slightly finer grind or a little more time.
Bitter or dry → try a coarser grind or less time.
Too strong → add a little more water at the end.
Too mild → use a little more coffee or less water.

Which coffee do we recommend?

The AeroPress works very well with almost any Ethiopian coffee.

Washed coffees usually yield a clean, floral, and bright cup, while natural processed coffees can offer more sweet, fruity, and intense profiles.
