The beginnings
He landed in Ethiopia for the first time in 2008 and was surprised by the clash between the preconceived image he had of the country (arid and poor), and a different reality (much richer and more diverse). It was a lesson in humility and learning.

The crush
In 2016, Gonzalo, a Spaniard, met Abezash, an Ethiopian-American artist with whom he began a relationship that lasts to this day and whose fruit would produce not only children, but also an unconditional love for the land and Ethiopian culture.

Creation time
For years, they lived together in Ethiopia, carrying out various audiovisual and artistic creation projects, exploring the coffee industry and local crafts.

Forces majeure
Covid brought them to Spain, where they are now settled, although they have been coming and going ever since, acting as de facto ambassadors between cultures.

Black Jebena is born
In 2025, after several years of bringing coffee, spices and artisan products to family and friends, they formalize their passion for their land in what we present today as Black Jebena , destined to bring the best of Ethiopia to your home.
