Additional information
This Chemex coffee maker is essentially the same object that joined the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York almost 70 years ago. But beyond its looks, its history, its design, this pristine hourglass-shaped carafe is capable of making exquisite coffee.
A cult object in the world of coffee. Its purity and functionality allow for maximum control over the process to achieve a complex coffee. Unrivalled delicacy in less than 5 minutes.
Preparation instructions
1.- Place the cone-shaped filter on top of the coffee maker with the three-layer part facing the pouring spout. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any bad taste, preheating the coffee maker as well. Then remove any accumulated water.
2.- Place the freshly ground coffee with a medium grind into the filter. The indicated amount is approximately 30gr. per half litre but it depends on personal taste. Coffee made using the Chemex® method avoids the more bitter notes.
3.- Pour very hot water, 93º C, in a small amount of water over the coffee beans, just enough to moisten them, allowing them to "bloom". This way the desirable elements will be released.
4.- After this first moistening or pre-infusion, simply pour in more water. Always slowly, soaking the base, but keeping the water level well below the top of the coffee maker.
5.- Once the desired amount of coffee is brewed, discard the grounds by lifting the filter out of the coffee maker. And that's it! You are now ready to enjoy a perfect cup of coffee!
Important:
Take into account the quality of the water as it, together with the chosen coffee, becomes part of the final drink.
The amount of brewed coffee can be measured on the Chemex coffee maker using the knob on the base and handle as guides. The knob marks the midpoint, and the bottom of the handle indicates full capacity.
Filters not included, you can check the filter options in our store.
